Overview

Wayfarer is a travel planning application operated by M Island LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Wayfarer you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

We do not collect precise GPS location in the background. Location access, if granted, is used only while the app is in active use and only when you initiate a location-dependent action.

How we use your information

We use the data we collect to provide, maintain, and improve Wayfarer. Specifically:

• Authenticate your account and sync your content across devices
• Process subscription payments and enforce access entitlements
• Diagnose crashes and fix bugs
• Understand which features are used most to guide product decisions
• Respond to support inquiries
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising profiles or share it with ad networks.

Third-party services

Each third-party processor is bound by its own data processing terms and applicable privacy law. Links to their privacy policies are available upon request.

Data retention

We retain your account data and user content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records (e.g., billing records for tax purposes, retained for up to 7 years).

Security

All data in transit is encrypted using TLS. Data at rest is encrypted at the database layer via Supabase. Access to production data is restricted to authorized personnel only and protected by row-level security policies. We review and update our security practices regularly.

Children's privacy

Wayfarer is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you via in-app notice or email at least 14 days before the change takes effect.

Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using Wayfarer you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and M Island LLC.

The service

Wayfarer is a travel planning application that allows you to create and manage trip itineraries, budgets, packing lists, and share trip information with others. We offer both a free tier and a paid subscription tier ("Wayfarer Pro").

Account responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EEA) to use Wayfarer. You agree not to share your account with others or create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits.

Subscriptions and billing

Wayfarer Pro is available as a monthly subscription. Billing is handled through the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, or Stripe (for web). All subscription terms, including trial periods, renewal, and cancellation, are governed by the platform through which you subscribed.

• Free trial: New subscribers may receive a 7-day free trial. Trial eligibility is determined at sign-up; we reserve the right to modify or withdraw trial offers.
• Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you retain Pro access until then.
• Refunds: Refund requests are handled by the platform through which you purchased (Google Play, Apple App Store, or Stripe). We do not issue direct refunds except as required by applicable law.
• Price changes: We may change subscription pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance.

Your content

You retain ownership of the trip data, itineraries, and other content you create in Wayfarer ("Your Content"). By using the app, you grant M Island LLC a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and transmit Your Content solely to provide and improve the service. We do not claim ownership of Your Content and do not use it for advertising.

You are responsible for ensuring Your Content does not violate any applicable law or third-party rights. You may export or delete Your Content at any time.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Wayfarer to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise extract source code
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers
• Use automated means to access the service in a manner that exceeds reasonable personal use
• Transmit malware, spam, or unsolicited communications through trip sharing features

Trip sharing

Wayfarer allows you to share read-only views of trips with others via a link. By sharing a trip, you acknowledge that anyone with the link can view that trip's content. You are responsible for the content you share. We reserve the right to remove shared content that violates these Terms.

Disclaimers

Wayfarer is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the reliability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose of the service. Travel information (prices, schedules, availability) entered by users is not verified by us; always confirm details directly with travel providers.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, M Island LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Wayfarer. Our total liability to you for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Indiana. You waive any objection to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Changes to these terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will provide at least 14 days' notice of material changes via in-app notification or email. Your continued use of Wayfarer after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time via account settings or by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the service ends immediately, though provisions that by their nature should survive termination will do so (including ownership, disclaimers, and liability limitations).
